Description
You are bidding on a rare copy of Out of Step, the first EP released by Minor Threat in 1983. This is a first pressing copy with the all-black back cover, which was the only pressing that had this cover. Jeff Nelson told me that he had designed artwork for the back cover, but it somehow got messed up at the pressing plant, so the first pressing went out with a solid gloss black back cover. I will also include with this auction an original copy of an advertisement that was used to promote this EP in record stores. It did not originally come with this record, but was printed around the same time. The original "half-sheet" style lyric sheet insert is also included. The first pressing was the only pressing that had this style of lyric sheet; all later pressings had a "full sheet" lyric sheet that folded over and had a picture of the band at the top. A lot of first pressings are missing their lyric sheets, and they're pretty hard to find.
The vinyl is in good condition; I have owned several first pressing copies of this record, and this is the only one I have kept because it was in the best condition out of any of them that I had seen. The labels on the vinyl look very good, and the lyric sheet & advertisement sheet are in great shape. The cover isn't perfect, but looks better than most copies that I have seen (other than the ones that sold from Jeff Nelson's personal collection!). There are a few dings on the gloss black back, which is pretty standard on these. The vinyl is even in it's original dust jacket, which isn't in the best shape, but I thought I would keep since it was original and most of them have probably been torn up by now.
