Description

Miles Davis YOUNG MAN WITH A HORN - Classic Records Comparison Set - FACTORY SEALED and Long out of Print! Extremely rare comparison package featuring Classic Records' 10 inch reissue of Miles' Young Man with a Horn (at 33 1/3 RPM) with a 12 inch comparison pressing at 45 RPM.
This is not a "home-made" comparison package in which sellers combine two different pressings and sell them as a set. Classic issued this curio in very limited quantities...If you blinked you missed it! And what a great way to hear for yourself the difference between records pressed at 33 1/3 versus 45 RPM (more on that below).
Now's your chance to get this long out of print rarity at a fair market price!

Condition: The records are sealed/mint. However, over time the shrink wrap covering the 12" LP has shrunk just enough to exert pressure on the corners, which are starting to bend a bit. The 10" version is sealed in its own shrink wrap and is SEALED/MINT (which makes sense as Classic clearly bundled existing inventory of the 10" record with the 12" 45 RPM record, which was pressed and placed in a generic white cover). One might consider poking a "breathe hole" into the shrink surrounding the 12" copy, but I'll leave that decision to the buyer!

ABOUT 45 RPM PRESSINGS

While some folks don't like the 45 RPM format (yes, you do have to get up and change sides more often), it's not hype: with more vinyl real estate for your stylus to operate within, volume levels are maintained consistently across all tracks (with 33 1/3, as you get closer to the inner groove you will lose volume because the grooves get smaller), and there's LOTS more room for the bass frequencies. A mastering engineer has to juggle all these factors, usually leading to certain compromises, when pressing at 33 1/3. The common wisdom in the audiophile community is that, when done well, 45 rpm pressings are as close as you'll get to the master tape.

About Me: I'm a long time Ebay buyer intent on selling a significant portion of my LP collection over the next year or two (or three!). I believe in the auction process, so I'm NOT going to list records at absurdly high prices, and I look forward to getting rare, out of print records into the hands of music lovers, record collectors and audiophiles (I consider myself all of the above). All LPS stored in a smoke-free, climate controlled environment.

Please check my feedback and BID WITH CONFIDENCE. Also, please take a look at other items I'm listing (including Buy-It-Now, high quality titles at bargain prices), and good luck!
