Hello,
I am auctioning off rare items and usually excellent condition LPs from my collection. Here’s an all-original mono copy of Miles Davis’s Relaxin’, Prestige 7129, assembled from May and October, 1956 dates recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in New York. The band is Miles’ first all-star band, with John Coltrane, tenor saxophone; Red Garland, piano; Paul Chambers, bass; and Philly Joe Jones, drums. Among the A-1 selections: Oleo, Woody N’ You and It Could Happen to You. This is a recording that has part of the Miles Prestige era legend and with good reason: the performances are as stimulating now as when they were recorded.
The record has been cleaned on a VPI Record cleaner and is graded after being played and visually inspected as follows:
Vinyl:
VG++: This original pressing vinyl is, as a whole, very enjoyable to listen. There is occasional surface crackle typical of Prestige pressings, and a couple of light pops, but overall, this record plays close to M-. Lot of very quiet moments completely clear. Pretty nice sheen to the vinyl, though there are numerous marks, probably paper scuffs, that do not affect play; also name written in marker in center of label. LP has been pretty well taken care of over the years.
Jacket:
VG++: Also well taken care, a lot of original luster to the Reid Miles-designed cover, very some scuffs elsewhere, no seam splits. Back has a label over catalog # and a name written in marker.
This is an original copy of Prestige 7129. The LP has a deep groove both sides, label is classic Prestige black and yellow with 446 W. 50th St., New York address and the RVG initials are stamped in dead wax. The jacket also has the New York address.
This is a copy that will please most collectors. The album is guaranteed to be as depicted above. Return within seven days of arrival for refund less shipping, but if you feel you might not want a copy as depicted, perhaps better not to bid. Thanks.
