Description
This wonderful album was released in 1965 but the songs were recorded between 1953 - 1956. Miles's ballad playing, punctuated with space and silence is absolutely beautiful on these tracks. With contributions by Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Art Blakey, and Charlie Mingus among others....there isn't a weak song on this record.
The copy I'm offering is a 1st UK pressing (SL 10168) on EMI's Stateside label and it sounds fantastic. In addition, it is a rare promotional "Factory Sample" which is extremely hard to find for this release.
Condition of Lp Jacket: Excellent(+).....still in beautiful condition after 54 years....the front laminated jacket has a couple of inoffensive creases and shows minor wear to a couple of the corners. At the back, all 3 flipbacks are in near perfect condition and the non-laminated areas show some discoloration and light staining. A decent example of this rare UK printed jacket.
Condition of Record: Near Mint(minus) .....Side 1 plays almost flawlessly and easily grades Near Mint. Side 2 also plays very well except for the song "Smooch" which grades VG. The rest plays NM. The vinyl itself is rather heavy and visually looks nearly perfect displaying a beautiful gloss. Side 1 has a "Not For Sale, Factory Sample" sticker on the label.
