Miki Imai "Dialogue - Miki Imai Sings Yuming Classics -" 45rpm heavy vinyl analog LP
The analog LP of Miki Imai's ``Dialogue-Miki Imai Sings Yuming Classics-'' has been newly added to the high-quality software that Stereo Sound is producing in cooperation with record companies. In September 2019, they released the single-layer SACD “Dialogue,” but this work is a 2-disc analog LP set with 45 rpm specifications. The single layer SACD was mastered by Koji Suzuki of Sony Music Studio, but this work was mastered and cut by Nippon Columbia's chief engineer Shigeru Takezawa.
The master used for this work is a PCM/96kHz/24-bit digital sound source, which is the same as the previously released SACD, but this work was created by veteran engineer Mr. Takezawa who adjusted the sound suitable for the analog LP format (= mastering ) and then engraved the lacquer disc. By the way, the second track on side A and the first track on side C were originally recorded in PCM/44.1kHz/24 bit, so the sound source was up-converted to PCM/96kHz/24 bit using Nippon Columbia's high-precision ORT. When commercializing this work, the staff of the record division had detailed discussions with engineer Takezawa about the recording time of "Dialogue" and the tendency of the album's sound quality, and finally decided on the standard specification of 33.1/3 LP. Instead of rotating, we chose a 45-rpm specification that allows you to hear higher-quality sound.
When producing this high-quality analog LP, Mr. Takezawa of Nippon Columbia applied mastering suitable for a 30cm disc while bringing out the characteristics of the original master, using a carefully tuned Neumann SAL74B cutting amplifier, VMS70 cutting lace, and The lacquer disc is cut using an SX74 cutter head.
The appeal of analog LPs with a 45-rpm specification is that you can enjoy a sense of silence and highly penetrating sound that can be said to be a world apart from single-layer SACDs. Yumin's skillful arrangement based on the world of songs brings out the charm of singer Miki Imai to the fullest. Furthermore, the liner notes describing the production process of the analog LP were written by Kenji Mayuzumi, an audio critic who has had an extraordinary attachment to her music, just like the single-layer SACD ``Dialogue.''
