THE MIKE WESTBROOK CONCERT BAND - 'MIKE WESTBROOK'S LOVE SONGS'
Recorded in 1970 and generally regarded as a 'Brit-Jazz' peak, this amazing album features the creme-de-la-creme of British Jazz musicians of the time.
An outstanding work of musical experimentation it features a song cycle dedicated to the poems by Caroline Menis, and features Britain’s great female Jazz vocalist Norma Winstone.
In addition to being a superb sounding UK 1st stereo pressing on Deram (SML 1069), the inner-sleeve is SIGNED by composer/pianist Mike Westbrook AND the following SIX members of the band:
- Mike Osborne (d.2007) - Alto saxophone
- John Warren - Baritone saxophone
- George Khan - Tenor saxophone
- Malcolm Griffiths - Trombone
- Paul Rutherford (d.2007) - Trombone
- Harry Miller (d.1983) - Bass
- Norma Winstone - Vocals

CONDITION
Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT +
Clean & bright with just some light spindle trails around each centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Clean, deep-goss playing surfaces bearing no noticeable blemishes in strong daylight. Closer examination beneath powerful halogen light reveal little more than some fine/wispy paper-type hairlines and a sparking rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
This well-cared for disc has received only careful attention from quality equipment. Apart from six clicks on track 2 on side 1 from a microscopic 1mm scratch, along with some low-level vinyl background in quieter passages, there are no further audible faults or distractions.
Cover: EXCELLENT
Clean & glossy with minor shelfwear to the corners and a single 'thumbnail' wrinkle to the high-gloss front panel. The rear panel has lyrics for two of the tracks stuck onto it, along with the original retailer's sticker in the lower right corner. Both seams & the spine are fully intact and undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean, uncreased & fully intact with nice unhurried signatures in different inks all on one side.
