Description

MIKE STEVENS aka MEIC STEVENS - GHOST TOWN - 1969 TRIDENT STUDIOS 7" METAL ACETATE

Artist: Mike Stevens aka Meic Stevens

Song: Ghost Town

Label: Trident Studios
Other Info: One off chance to own this acetate of Meic Stevens recorded in 1968/1969 and never released on 7" vinyl, though a limited number CD album of unreleased tracks entitled 'Ghost Town' did come out in 1997 featuring this song.  A beautiful haunting psych acid folk number with Meic singing in English.  This is a ‘Trident Studios’ single sided acetate with handwritten details.  Acetates were one off studio made, thin layer of vinyl on a metal plate, they quite often are different takes or mixes of the song that eventually gets an official release.  Whether this one is different in any way to the demo that was featured on the 1997 CD I do not know.

Sound File
The sound file will probably not be accessible via mobile phones etc, but should be via computer.

The sound file is from the actual record offered with no manipulation.

Record Condition

Visually Looks:
G

(Unfortunately acetates were never made for longevity, they were just basic one off listening devices, hence the audio quality is never quite as standard as the final vinyl issues are.

They also have a tendency to corode due to the metal under the thin vinyl layer.

This one has signs of the metal showing through on the outer edges and some corrosion on the run in grooves.

Due to the metal and antiquity they quite often are found with white pores, like a fine dust, which usually leave some amount of cloudy staining after cleaning.  This one has limited cloudy staining.

It is covered in hairlines, scuffs and marks which mostly seem superficial.
The music plays through pretty well considering.  Some light background, some light crackling and occasional light ticks and pops.  The music overpowers these throughout.  The first 10-20 seconds has two places where the needle sticks in the grooves, hence the sound file is started 10-20 seconds into the song.

There may be scope to clean up the recording either manually or digitally.)

Postage
I do not allow records to be personally collected.  All must be sent via postal or courier service.

I will post to most but not all countries in the World.

I will combine postage if you buy more than one item.  Please wait for me to send you a revised invoice to charge you postage at cost.  Postage costs are the same for 1-3 records.

All records are sent in manufactured record mailers with cardboard stiffeners. The vinyl and cover are separated to avoid seam splits in transit.
I calculate postage using the Royal mail postage calculator. I charge an extra 50p for packing materials as i buy specialist record mailers and stiffeners. Sometimes records cost less to mail than i expect. In these cases i try to refund the difference.

UK-Posted within the UK sent by Next Day - Special Delivery.
Europe/Rest of the World-Posted outside the UK sent by International Signed For or Tracked Postage.

U.K - £8.00 (next day delivery)

Europe - £10.00 (tracked)
Rest of the World (India/US/Canada/Australia/Japan etc) - £12.00 (tracked or signed)

Grading Conditions
I grade the records condition visually only, unless I state what the record actually plays like and provide an audio MP3 sample.  This is because I do not always have time to play everything, so bear this in mind.

I am strict with my grading so you can feel confident in my conclusions. My feedback will reflect this.

I do NOT use the grading ‘MINT’ (other than the very rare occasion the record is still sealed).  My ‘EXCELLENT’ grading will mean the record will still have a full sheen with clean vinyl and the sleeve will be free from rips, tears, seam splits.  Any further information like slight defects or type of sleeve will be in brackets after the grading.

Anyone unhappy solely with my visual grading can return item for refund. However if I have provided pictures and sound files then I do not accept returns on basis of condition.

MINT: Only used if sealed.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some light signs of having been played, but there is very little or no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has obviously been over played, and will probably display deterioration in sound quality, it will probably have lots of fine lines and the odd scratch. Wear and tear on the cover or extra items.
