Description

This is an UNOPENED/SEALED vinyl 12" LP album of Michael Jackson - titled OFF THE WALL. I am the original owner of this item from 1979 until now. The has been in storage for a LONG time. The original price sticker from TARGET is sill on the album in the right upper corner (picture is a stock photo). There's an area of clear tape to the center of the cellophane on the front of the album. The back also has a small area with some clear tape. I see a very small tear to the cellophane near an edge & also some stress to the bottom edge of the album. The corners of the album cover (cardboard) have a slight rounded edge from bumping around.

Released in August 1979 "Off The Wall" was Michaels first solo album as an adult artist.
He wanted this album to be the best it could be. He needed someone with great experience and had met Quincey Jones on the set on the movie "The Wiz" and Quincey produced the album. Michael wanted the sound of the album to be different from that of the Jacksons who had just had there biggest album success with "Destiny".
Michael wanted songs that were good for him to sing and that he could move to. In came Rod Temperton who penned "Rock With You" a big hit, "Burn This Disco Out" and the title track.
During the sessions Quincey approached Michael with "Girlfriend" saying how well suited that song would be for him. Little did he know Paul had written the song for Michael a couple of years previous and even sung it to Michael at a party.
"Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" was the first song Michael had written himself as a whole and became US No1 hit single. "She's Out of My Life" a heart wrenching ballard.

I have added actual photos of the album front & back. Sorry the photo quality is not good with my camera phone.  The white area seen in the photo of the back of the album is the camera flash.

The clear tape that I mentioned on the front of the album cellophane is approx.. 1 1/4 inches down from his black tie. It appears to be 2 pieces of clear tape that were put there to stop a tiny tear from becoming larger.  The single small piece of clear tape on the back of the album cellophane would be just below his left knee cap.  Likely to repair what looks like a tiny tear. I probably did this in my early teen years after I bought the album from Target.. The clear cellophane on the album does have some scratches and wear to the edges from storage, handling and dust.
