Description
For sale is Michael Jackson's Bad, originally released in 1987 by Epic Records with a gate-fold presentation. This is a promotional first edition, distinguished by a gold stamp on the upper right hand corner of the back cover. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched a large "G1", followed by the matrix numbers 1-E/1-D, indicating that an early stamper was used to press this first edition at Columbia Records' pressing plant located in Carrollton, Georgia. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine, then put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is Near Mint. The cover is graded as VG+ because of minor corner blunts, edge rubs, stress cracks along the spine and the edges along with a 1" frayed tear on the bottom seam of the back cover with some paper loss. The spine has a little color loss at the corners from these corner blunts. The vinyl is visually graded as VG+ because of some very faint sleeve marks and surface scuffing. I'm play grading this as Excellent because of an occasional pop and ticking, along with some low level surface noise most noticeable during the quietest sections of playback. This is still one of the best copies of this album that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find an promotional first edition in this condition.
