Description

An original 1986 1st press of Puppets on the UK MFN label. Matrix A7. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover. And here it gets a bit tricky when identifying 1st press, but you need to seek out the following characteristics. 1st issue covers should not have the bar-code on the rear and ALL the text should be in white. The record labels DO NOT mention country of origin. Also included is the original 1986 merchandise leaflet - which mentions the full 1986 European tour date schedule. And also the original bespoke inner sleeve with external flip-backs. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Will ship with the LP housed in a Decca poly-lined inner leave for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In really nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very superficial marks per side - nothing heavy or sinister looking at all. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. By and large a thunderous and clean rendition. Many of these original 1st pressings will have been wrecked by this point in time. I'm pleased to report a very decent playing copy which delivers an excellent rendition of this Metallica benchmark recording. You might detect a few minor crackles in a couple of the quieter moments per side. But it's pretty minor and fleeting, and not intrusive. Expect a stellar rendition at 33 rpm from just a matter of months from those original masters. Overall there's not that much to find fault with. There is a tiny mark in the intro to 'Sanitorium'. I picked out a couple of minor ticks and a couple of crackles. And there's a bit of crackle limited to that super low-key opening to 'DAMAGE'. Overall a fantastic rendition from this true 1st from 1986.
Cover (Ex-) In nice condition with a clean front and rear. Many original examples will exhibit creasing by this point in time. This example seems to have escaped nearly all creasing, and surface wear. Also worth noting colours seem vivid and so the cover has clearly not been left out in the light. Edge wear is mostly light and the openings are still sharp. The only vague downside is the spine. There's a bit of wear evident here - but nothing epic. All the text is still more or less still all legible. Overall I'd argue this is a pretty decent looking original example.
Inner (Ex) Many will be knackered by this point in time. This example is in excellent order. No splits or tears.
Leaflet (Ex) Good as new.
