Description

This limited edition box was released in 1984 during a crucial period of time for the American Metal scene. Metal Blade was the premiere American Heavy Metal/Thrash label (along with Megablade) during the 80s, and their Metal Massacre series of compilations documented the beginnings of many of the most influential Metal bands in history. For example, Metallica made their first vinyl appearance ever on Metal Massacre Volume One with the track "Hit The Lights" featuring the original line-up with Dave Mustaine! Other volumes featured early appearances by such heavyweights as Slayer, Armored Saint, Attacker, and Trauma (with a pre-Metallica Cliff Burton on bass). The full track listing for these five compilations reads like a who's who of the original Thrash scene. The boxed set was a ultra-limited collectors item which combined the first five volumes of the Metal Massacre comps. pressed onto picture discs with the cover art on one side and the track listings on the other. The set includes a Metal Blade photodiscography with images and reviews for every record in their catalog, a Metal Blade badge, and a Metal Blade iron-on transfer. The box is numbered on the back cover with the following information: "This Box Set is Number 913 of A Limited Edition Of 1000. At the conclusion of the pressing of this box, the parts necessary for it's manufacture were destroyed. It shall never be repressed." The box itself has some wear, most notably that the bottom two corners have been split. The records themselves are in great shape and in addition have been cleaned on a professional-grade VPI record washing machine.
