Up for auction here is a great example of this rare LP. These Mercury living presence stereo "hi-fi" LPs are considered among the best pressings EVER, and this copy as a DEEP MAROON (picture looks RED, but it is actually the familiar maroon!) label will be as early a copy as you will ever be able to find. This is a gorgeous record and an audiophile treasure- this is the one you have been waiting for. There can't be many copies left in such lovely condition, so don't miss out!

INFO: What we have here is a beautiful disc of the finest band music conducted by FREDERICK FENNELL with the Eastman wind ensemble. These are exceptional versions of these remarkable pieces!

The pieces are:

Gioacchino ROSSINI : "la boutique fantasque"

charles GOUNOD : ballet music from "faust"

arthur SULLIVAN (of gilbert & sullivan) - "pineapple roll"

SPECIFICS: Mercury living presence "high fidelity" stereo SR 90256 original "deep groove" pressing, printed in the USA. As I said, this one is a deep maroon label with silver text, signifying the earliest (and best) possible pressing. The label says "margin control" on it, too. This record comes with the original inner sleeve, advertising other mercury LPs and also has some nice technical info.

CONDITION (cover/disc) : NM/EX laminated cover is beautiful- glossy and bright, basically MINT!!! The seams are solid, and the spine is easily readable. NO SPLITS! There is really no discoloration on the cover, which is unusual for these records. basically it looks brand new, but is guaranteed original! Record is nice, with almost no sign of play, but there are some scuffs from the inner sleeve, mostly on side two. These do NOT affect play, and there are NO SCRATCHES. The record is glossy and beautiful. GORGEOUS EXAMPLE!

MATRIX NUMBERS: (side one) SR -90256A FR1 / (side two) SR - 90256B FR1 machine stamped. There is also a hand stamped "P 17" on both sides, and something that looks like "A1" on side A, and "A2" on side B. There is also a little "I" or "1" on side 2. FIRST PRESS STAMPERS!!!!
