Description

A detailed, insightful illustration of how a composer uses his orchestral elements to weave together a work. Sonically, the recording does just that: a demonstration of how each instrument sounds individually and as a component in the orchestra. As a bonus, Hanson's on-podium commentary is not only educational, it also precisely defines the acoustical space and relative size of the human voice. On S.2, the suite from his opera Merry Mount is played without pause or commentary.

Producer: Wilma Cozart

Engineer: C.R. Fine

Recording location/date: Eastman Theater, Rochester, NY/3, 5, May, 1959

Record condition: NM-/NM-

Cover condition: NM-, except for a tiny hole drill, color back

Stamper: FR1/FR1 dark maroon label

Note: I'm a collector, not a dealer. The reason I'm selling is to downsize my collection. Every record I offer was hand-picked based on its merits on music, performance, and sonics (not necessarily in that order!). I will list recording credentials such as producer, engineer, venue, date, etc. as I believe as an educated buyer, these will offer crucial info for an unfamiliar record to make a buying judgement. Hope you'll find this useful!
