Comments: On the A-side I hear a definite effort by the Stax crew to try something new, incorporating strong elements of then current trends in rock into their otherwise rather lean R&B arrangements. It’s particularly noticeable in the vocals were Floyd’s voice is integrated with a surprisingly big group of back singers. Steve Cropper’s guitar is also much more aggressive than his more regular laidback soul riffs. A more traditional Staxer on the B-side – a jumpy mid-tempo track with the solid rhythm laid down by Cropper’s guitar, augmented by the patented horn section. There is also a short break.
