"THE PRINCE" Oliver O. Cook

MEGA-RARE & OBSCURE ITALIAN PROG. LIBRARY MASTERPIECE!

1972 Polaris label PROMO pressing, Cat#. POL. - L.P.710, stereo-mono, Italy.

Hailing from from the same label of "I TEOREMI", Italian Prog. monster here's another great gem signed by obscure artists. The album is wrapped in a air of mistery, with all the tracks credited to the obscure "Wost" and 'Oliver O. Cook', which we know from certain sources being the pseudonym of pianist, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Mario Battaini also known as the "Duke Of Burlington". Not sure it was conceipt as a 'Library' album, but contains 12 instrumental tracks dominated by the 'Prepared Piano', Battaini's trade-mark, with killing spooky notes, Progressive and Psychedelic vibes, stunning Bboy driven beats and drum Breaks. Heavy
percussions and delicious Hip Hop Funky guitar riffs. The whole record is just killer, enjoy the long soundclip: https://soundcloud.com/armagideon-times/the-prince-1972-rare-obscure-italian-prog-library-w-insane-bboy-breaks
Side A is totally outstanding with some very special jams. Terrific "I'M THE BOSS", percussive Psychedelic beat with Psych Sax solo, nervous Piano notes and guitar with heavy rhytmic session. "35th STREET" amazing starting Funky riff accompaining by incredible Bboy drum Breaks and the constant Piano notes, Psychedelic guitar and Flute. "GENIUS" another driven Beat with Hip Hop drumming and dope Progressive Funk refrains. "HEY! ARETHA" aggressive theme with loads of Psychedelic riffs, Progressive drums and loops. "THE BEATIFUL WORD" insane Prepared Piano sound on beating groove, before the final sleazy Psychedelic "THE MAGIC DAY" with repeating Funky guitars. On the other side we meet the Hip Hop Funk "COME INTO THE SUNSHINE", the distressing Piano-themed "HOLYDAY FOR PIANO" with odd-tempo Prog. drums and Psychedelic guitar. Killing "KRAZY CAT" groovy theme with Moody changing rhythmes. The final "THE NEW TENNESSEE" is Psych Loungy guitars ending-titles theme.

RECORD: Strong EX shape, sounds with local slight background noises.

COVER: Almost immaculate shape, just some very light ringwear visible on the back, otherwise perfect. NM.
