Description
picked up this album when it was released back in 1986 and I never looked back! This was a strong band that never really got the proper recognition for this great release. The music is really slick,funky,and nasty! This group really rocked that Glam/Funk-Rock look similar to those eighties metal hair bands such as POISON which comes to mind, and that was never my personal style but...that look was appropriate for their sound. The song "100 MPH" is worth the price of this album alone! I think that track still rocks with some serious TECHNO-FUNK and muscianship that can still hold it's own with anybody on the music scene today period! The drumming on that track is just too damn FUNKY! Yeah,100 MPH may still have that 80's flava to it,but there ain't many bands still "FREAKIN' THE FUNK" like these cats today! Some of the other great tracks are; "PLAYERS BALL" which displays some great rock guitar playing to some synth FUNK,led by Sir Casey Terry's pimpin' style falsetto vocals. And; "STROKE" has some thumpin' bass licks,stanky guitar riffs, wicked grooves on the keyboards and slick, nasty vocals. This album really captures a great prolific period in the PRINCE camp circa 1986. Don't forget that these cats did the background vocals on his classic song "KISS". If you dig PRINCE this album should be a good addition to your collection. These cats were FUNKY!
