Description

Mavis Staples VMP Exclusive Tiger's Eye Colored Vinyl Edition.

In February 1969, the Titan-voiced star of the Staple Singers delivered her self-titled debut — a stirring soul album heavy on songs about relationships both beginning and ending. Mavis was herself going through a divorce at the time, so the songs were especially poignant. Mavis’ 2000’s solo resurgence has been one of music’s best stories, but the seeds for that career were laid 50 years ago with the superlative Mavis Staples.
