Description
You are bidding on the following:
Artist: the brilliant Matt Deighton
Title: ‘You are the Healer’
Barcode: N/A
Release number: MATT01
Label: Metropolis Mastering
Release date: recorded early 1996, and due to label dispute and legal process finally released in 2000.
Rarity & format: super rare single album pressing released some four years after the last Mother Earth album, the double live album ‘the Desired Effect’, despite being recorded early that same year in 1996. This is the first record released on the Barley Wheel imprint and under Matt’s direct control, post extricating himself from his Acid Jazz contract and a long legal dispute involving the ownership ‘rights’ of this album.
This disk is the ultimate rarity for the YATH album, and was secured direct by me from Matt Deighton himself. This is an acetate in 10” format that includes two of Matt’s favourite tracks off the album, the title track ‘You are the Healer’ and ’72 minutes to Switzerland’. The mastering was completed at the ‘Metropolis’ studios in London, and the acetate is labelled with ‘Metropolis Mastering’ with printed labels. Matt’s provenance is included with a hand-written letter which will be included with the sale. I secured this acetate in August 2017.
Condition outer cover: N/A
Condition inner sleeve: the acetate was provided to me in an over-sized 12” generic black paper polylined inner sleeve, and there is no outer sleeve included with this acetate. Condition is excellent plus (+) condition.

Vinyl: I played this on my recently commissioned Marantz TT15 at high volume. This is an amazing but very unforgiving deck for any record with any blemishes, and therefore a great test for all used vinyl’s that I sell. The visual inspection clearly evidences this has moderate plays, with some minor finger marks, numerous light hairlines. Both sides have a deep shine, and it’s clear that whilst Matt was keen to enjoy the planned release of this album by listening to two of his favourite tracks off YATH, the record has been carefully handled. Knowing the fragile nature of acetates, I am grading this visually at excellent minus side ‘AA’, and very good plus (+) condition side ‘A’. Sonically both play well with no nasty pops, clicks or jumps. ’72 minutes to Switzerland’ is a much quieter track and there is some background static and crackle in the lead in and in a minor way throughout the playback. ‘You are the Healer’ is an all-together more powerful track, and other than crackle in the lead in and fade of the track, plays well. Incredibly rare and ‘one off’ acetate is graded excellent minus (-) condition sonically.
