Rare LOUIS ARMSTRONG and His HOT FIVE, Volume 1 - Original 1920's OKEH Sides. Columbia CL-851 ( 1956 ). A great find for Armstrong fans. Columbia has re-mastered many of Armstrong's earliest sides from the Original OKEH Masters which Columbia now owns. Album includes: GUT BUCKET BLUES, recorded in Chicago, November 12, 1925, HEEBIE JEEBIES, MUSKRAT RAMBLE and CORNET CHOY SUEY, recorded in Chicago February 26, 1926, YES, I'M IN THE BARREL recorded in Chicago November 12, 1925, SKID-DAT-DE-DAT recorded in Chicago November 16, 1926, ORY'S CREOLE TROMBONE recorded in Chicago September 22, 1927, THE LAST TIME recorded in Chicago September 6, 1927, STRUTTIN' WITH SOME BARBECUE and GOT NO BLUES, Recorded in Chicago December 9, 1927, HOTTER THAN THAT recorded in Chicago December 13, 1927 and I'M NOT ROUGH recorded in Chicago December 10, 1927. The HOT FIVE included Armstrong, Kid Ory, Johnny Dodds, Lil Armstrong and Johnny St. Cyr. The LP is in NM playing condition and the cover is excellent.
Rare THE LOUIS ARMSTRONG STORY Vol 2 - Louis Armstrong And His Hot Seven - Columbia CL852 Bird's Eye Label. This is the companion album to Louis Armstrong And His Hot Five which we also have listed at this time. These remarkable sides were all recorded in an 8 day period in Chicago in May, 1927. If you are fortunate enough to own all of these original Okeh 78's, you still haven't heard them like this. The Columbia engineers did a remarkable job re-mastering the original 78's and this LP is awesome. Plays VG+ and the cover is excellent.
