This exceedlingly rare LP and semi-private issue from Teldec (66.21226, German Teldec · Telefunken-Decca pressing, black/silver label, stereo) features the great German violinist Wolfgang Marschner and pianist Horst Minkofski-Garrigues in sublime renditions of two of Schubert’s Violin Sonatas, warmly recorded in 1983.

The exact contents are as follows:

Schubert: Violin Sonata in A minor D. 385 (Op. 137 No. 2)

Schubert: Violin Sonata in G minor D. 408 (Op. 137 No. 3)

This is exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the violin will find much to savor here; moreover, the sound is absolutely first rate.

Incidentally, the cover photo is credited to Bischof & Broel, Nurenburg. There are fine liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in German only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is a minor crease, but reall that is all. Otherwise, the album appears virtually as new. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
