This auction is for an 1989 Deutsche Grammophon box set of Leonard Bernstein / Christa Ludwig / New York Choral & the Brooklyn Boys Chorus performing Mahler's Symphonie No. 3. The 2 LP box set contains discs 427 329-1 & 427 330- and were manufactured in West Germany. The original box is present as is the plastic insert but the booklet is missing.
I have conservatively graded the vinyl as VG: The first side has a couple of hairline marks to the start and a more serious scratch of 5mm about an inch into play (see photograph) 'Good' condition. I have listened to this set, the light marks are only audible as an occasional light crackle during a few quiet portions of the start of the first side. The scratch unfortunately causes a regular tick (but does not jump) for about a Minute and a half, the rest of the first side plays without obvious fault.
The second side has couple of just visible short hairline marks but these do not hamper play (VG+).
The second disc is in much better condition (Excellent) with no visible flaws and plays through beautifully.
The box of this set has some very light discolouration to the top edge where it has yellowed/ faded a little but is structurally sound with no splits, tears or heavy creases. The plastic insert for the booklet is also in great condition (clean with no cracks etc). I would grade both these items as VG++
I prefer to auction this item so am afraid I am not offering it as a buy it now. The box set will be carefully packaging in an appropriate vinyl mailer box.
