Description
This is an auction for Madonna's rarest ever UK release, the unimaginably rare 7" doublepack of Borderline, catalogue number W9260F. This is the first still-sealed copy to have surfaced on Ebay. A copy turned up opened at the side and sold for £300 in 2003, but this is mint and as-new. An intial batch of the famous single was packed with a free 7" of her earlier hit Holiday, stickered and then sealed. Most, of course, were immediately opened, leaving a handful - probably only a dozen or so and very likely even less - now left still in the original shrinkwrap (a friend of mine even remembers picking one up in his local Our Price at the time but didn't buy it!). This copy was originally bought from Spellbound Records in Croydon in 1996 (and was advertised in the March 1996 Record Collector at the time) and has been cherished ever since. There are fewer copies of this in existence than any other Madonna UK collectible - around half a dozen Lucky Star sunglasses sleeve 7"s and even more Erotica withdrawn 12" picture discs have turned up over the last 5 years - so perhaps this is the rarest ever worldwide Madonna 7". As such, this will probably be the only time it will come up for sale on Ebay, so complete your collection of Madonna limited editions now and snap it up.
