ARTIST:  Ma Rainey

LABEL:   Paramount 12238 78 RPM (1924)

TITLES:   Countin' the Blues (1927)/ Jelly Bean Blues (1926)

DESCRIPTION: I was unable to find a turntable that would play this 78 RPM record to hear how it sounds. So I have tried to describe its appearance as closely as possible based on my experience with vinyl LPs. Several images have been provided so that you can judge for yourself.  

This record appears overall to have moderate wear and scratches that would present surface noise. Side A (1927) looks the best with minimal scratches. It also has a small chip at the edge before the grooves begin. Also, the needle ran off at the end and scratched the paper label but not too severely. Side B (1926) looks more worn as it must have been someone's favorite. It has more scratches and a chip at the edge but the label looks good. The original jacket has been lost. Since the record has been in my family's possession, I know for a fact that it has not been played in the last fifty years.
