Description

If you have been searching for a definitive recording of Pictures at an Exhibition, then I believe I have found it, or at least am very close to knowing perfection. The Philidelphia Orchestra has an amazing brass section, and Muti makes a perfect complement to the ensemble with his interpretations of works and ability to move the ensemble. There are many Muti/Philidelphia recordings that make me tingle with joy as I listen to the tuning and great dynamic contrast, not to mention the sheer sound coming from the ensemble. This is definitely one of them.(If you're looking for others, I would recommend Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade). Although the tempo for the opening Promenade and a few other selections may seem fast, they fit well to the interpretation Muti gives. Night on Bald Mountain is played just as well, and you will take much delight once again as the brass section continues to shine. Basically, thoughout the whole Master Vinyl Recording, the legendary trombone section has a searing wall of sound. A real joy for the audiophile that truly believes Vinyl is the perfect way to reproduce sound,
