Description

I've decided to sell off a few test pressings of 7"s from a couple of indie labels I used to own here in Sydney (Phantom Records, and Messiah Complex). Generally, most were given to the bands...and on occasion I may have kept a couple...usually only the one though.

Anyway, here goes a bit of a ramble....a worthy one, mind you:

You will forever bless the day you continued to read on, and followed through, if the bands it's compared to are right up yer alley.

This 45 is truly the real deal.

::ARTIST: MUDRAC

::TRACKS: "GOTTA GET OUT" / "MENACING SKY"

::FORMAT: …vinyl 7” single TEST PRESSING…

::LABEL: (MESSIAH COMPLEX)

::CATALOGUE #: (ID-003)

::MADE IN: AUSTRALIA

::RELEASE DATE: 1990

FIRSTLY, THE MUSIC: ...This is, quite simply, one of thee greatest Detroit-influenced 7" singles released ANYWHERE in the entire damn world...EVER!!...with its ferocious, awesome, incredible Radio Birdman/Stooges-like power (closer to the real sound of the Elektra-era Stooges than ANY band I've ever come across). These guys were weaned on reams of the snotty-est, snarling-est 60's garage-punk, the MC5, the Dictators..plus the Stooges and Radio Birdman...and it's a mixture of these influences that powers through here like you NEVER heard before (I know you think you have, but trust me here...these tunes really take the biscuit). This is no idle comparison either - "Gotta Get Out" features the nastiest frenzied wah-wah attack since Ron Asheton got lost amongst it all on "Real Cool Time".

This was their only release...a 5 track mini-LP got to test pressing stage but no further...more's the shame.

SECONDLY, THIS RECORD:  It comes in its original light-blue die-cut thin card sleeve. Record has plain white labels with very basic info handwritten on 'A' side. Other label is blank.

This was cut by highly respected cutting engineer Warren Barnett at Festival Records' cutting room, in Pyrmont, Sydney. Usually I got only 4 test pressings of each release, but of this one I went out on a limb and ordered 8....most were  given to the band. This is one of three that wasn't.

CONDITION:

COVER / RECORD: ( - / EX )...

LABELS: ( Side One: MINT /  Side Two: MINT )...If you have any concerns about the accuracy of my gradings, please check my feedback for the odd nice comment from some satisfied folk out there.... (and hopefully you may be able to join their ranks).
