LA experimental rock collective Mr Bungle return with a limited translucent double LP issue of their self-titled major label debut, originally out in 1991. It laid bare their genre-hopping approach, blending rock, ska, metal, and avant-garde flourishes with many a vortical, impossible twist. Vocalist Mike Patton, who would later rise to fame with Faith No More, leads the group through eccentric arrangements and sudden stylistic shifts, while guitar, bass, and drums pivot seamlessly between intensity and absurdity. 'Quote Unquote,' the album's standout single, exemplifies their off-kilter sense of humor and complex composition.
