MOSAIC MQ11-169   J. J. JOHNSON  The Complete Columbia Small Group Sessions

A long-deleted 11LP box set,  which gathered together all of the material this famous jazz trombonist made with his small groups for USA Columbia 1956-61. All the material from his eight issued albums is here - plus the few tracks that appeared only on compilations of the period -  and there are many previously unissued performances as well.  Among the famous sidemen to be heard on these sides are: Freddie Hubbard/Nat Adderley (tp/cnt); Bobby Jasper/Clifford Jordan (ts); and Tommy Flanagan/Victor Feldman/Cedar Walton (p). This has the usual luxury booklet with high-definition photographs, full track listings and discographical details.  (More information on request.)

DESCRIPTION/CONDITION : The discs are EtoE+  (VG+toVG++), with some very light scuffs/superficial marks, visible under a bright 'grading' light. A few of the records have slightly heavier looking scuffs; these have little affect on the playing. The box is EtoE+ (VG+toVG++), with some minor surface/edge scratching/rubbing/creasing. There is some heavy rubbing down the spine. On the front, there is a sticker detailing which records, in the opinion of the persion who graded them then,  have marks.
