Rare in any condition, this eclectic disk has birds, frogs, traffic- it may be that if it was in the studio, it got recorded. The album notes that Moondog was accompaniedby Suzuko (his wife), Sakura Whiteing (on Japanese drum), David and Rosemarie Butterfield and Tino Banques at the Barron Sound Studios at 9 W. 8th St, New York 11, NY. Back cover features a rooftop photo of Suzuko and Moondog. The front cover of the wolf and the moon is in a class by itself.

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) CAUTION! The vinyl is only GOOD TO GOOD+, with multiple, numerous, scuffs which are BOTH visible AND audible. A few minor drop-like stains noted on the surface of the vinyl (on one side only; does not affect playing); The record plays with bearable BUT AUDIBLE surface noise and some pops and clicks. The record plays without skipping throughout. This record WAS play-graded.
(b) This album is presented here mostly for its historical value and as a very rare item, which can be exceedingly difficult to find in any other condition
(c) The album comes with the original booklet still intact.
(d) The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).
(e) The record has an "ear" symbol (a pretzel-like engravure about 1/4-inch/6mm long) in the trail-off vinyl, which on SOME jazz and blues labels (such as Blue Note; Folkways; Period, etc…) is associated with very early or first pressings). The 'ear' symbol is actually a letter 'P' in italic script, denoting a pressing made by Plastilite Corporation’s pressing plant.
(f) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(g) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, “HAND PAINTED” COVER)
THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT VERY GOOD- (VG-) TO GOOD + (G+)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has top and bottom seams partially split and spine completely split; all three seams were taped (judging by the yellowish residue, decades ago) along the entire lenths of the seams with clear (now aged and yellowed) scotch tape . The yellowed tape has left some visible yellowish residue along the seams of the back panel. The tape has been removed (or has fallen off) from the spine, leaving the spine completely split.
- Cover has some visible ring wear; On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 6.
- The cover has a small peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker (less than 1/8 square inch in size).
- Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease) in one of the corners and a smaller wrinkle in another
- Cover shows some yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
- Back cover has some light yellowish stains, probably from exposure to humidity (nothing significant).
- Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:
- No cut-out (drill) holes.
- No cut-out corners
- No saw-marks or indents
- No writing
- No stamps
- No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams
- No mold or mildew spots
- No stickers or labels
- No water damage
- No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.
- No warping
- No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
- No bar codes
- No RIAA stamps or stickers.
