RARE and way cool rompin' garage winner ! Thee way rare sixties first pressing on the small minnesota label... these guys were legendary trash rock garage with cool wild & primal rave up's filled with a howling attitude amid slashing reverb guitars ago-go...
Here in its first state *MONOPHONIC* sound glory...
The Trashmen were a quartet from Minneapolis, Minnesota : Tony Andreason (lead guitar), Dal Winslow (guitar, vocals), Bob Reed (bass guitar) and Steve Wahrer (lead singer, drums). Take a basically unsound premise - a surf band from Minnesota - add a certifiably demented singer, then turn the reverb up to 11. Voila! Los Trashmen! ... You'll want to hear and every one of the tracks on this relic each a piece of the true Bird.
One of the weirdest US Top 10 hits ever is "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen. The lyrics consist for the most part of the titles of the two hits by the Rivingtons, "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and "The Bird's the Word", endlessly repeated with manic energy by lead singer / drummer Steve Wahrer. About halfway, where you might expect an instrumental solo, there is a vocal interjection which has to be heard to be believed ...the word "regurgitating" vocal freak-out applies for this vocal tour de force.
Released on the small Garrett label in the autumn of 1963, "Surfin' Bird" reached its peak position (# 4) in the week of February 1, 1964 (the week that the Beatles reached the # 1 position on the Billboard charts for the first time, with "I Want To Hold Your Hand").
The album is full of listener friendly tunes of an garage/surf-rock nature, the musicians are incredibly enthusiastic with their instruments and the stinging guitar licks are excellent.

CONDITION: The cover is all-around "sound" looking VG++, at worse just slight handling wear and light coffee cup ring on back cover only... no problems otherwise, no split seams, no bends and no writing, this is a decent collectible cover...
The vinyl is all glossy on both sides ...a few minor nothing hairline scuffs and nothing more...VG++ plays excellent ...enjoyably = worthy of a collection keeper.
