ITALIAN EURO JAZZ GRAIL

Original 1971 VEDETTE Records STEREO 1st pressing, cat#. VSM 38545, Italy.

Rare and super-collectible original 1st pressing of this Italian Free Jazz milestone from 1971 released on a limited run and recorded at the historical SOUNDWORKSHOP studios in Rome, IT. This is NOT the much common 1978 repress surely pressed on several hundred of copies. Here is the genuine and harder 1st press, a certain jewel for certain record collectors all over the world. One of the most representative albums by maestro and legendary Italian Jazz pianist FRANCO D'ANDREA who leads this session along with FRANCO TONANI at the drums and BRUNO TOMMASO on contrabass. Considered among the top european albums in Jazz sound research with its Progressive Jazz numbers and stupefying Modern and Contemporary elements. Innovative and revolutionary work, a european manifesto of Post Bop era that still results fascinating for its originality and modernity. Free Jazz and Avant-garde Jazz very rich session with the famed huge, caotic and dissonant killing drums of F.Tonani / Modern Jazz vibes melting with Contemporary Jazz tones / classy and sophisticated sharped piano arrangements by maestro D'Andrea also at Fender Piano / Free improvisation enthusiasm in composition with flutes, saxophones, trumpets and electric piano / Minimalism experimentation in Jazz with suites representing Jazz of the past meeting the musical innovation of the time. A real masterpiece and seminal concept album of the genre!

6 tracks that vary from Free Jazz devotion to the angular melodies of "URW" with some extreme moods, and the multi-instrumentalism trust of "BEATWITZ" and "UN POSTO ALL'OMBRA" to the traditional "AIN'T NECESSARILY SO". Some rare moments of Contemporary expressions played with the mastery in development of a coherent musical dialogue. RARE LP!!

FRANCO D'ANDREA: piano, electric piano, soprano sax
FRANCO TONANI: drums, trumpet, songwhistle
BRUNO TOMMASO: contrabass

Record: lovely NM shape overall. Vinyl plays with local soft tics/pops in places, but the surface is very shiny and clean, sounds great. 1st track from side A sounds with light initial background noises and 4 tics. Check our soundclip. Cover: magnificent, stunning MINT- shape. Still in shrink.
