Description
This is a very nice original US stereo copy of the very rare first LP by the San Francisco psych band, Moby Grape, released in 1967 by Columbia Records. This is the very rare first pressing uncensored finger cover. This is one of the great psych rock LPS of the period featuring several incredible guitar passages by lead guitarist Jerry Miller. Clean copies of this pressing without the poster have a book value of $100. The poster is not included with the LP
As to grading, I grade very conservatively. Except that for records that are a notch below near mint, rather than VG ++, I prefer to use grade of Excellent. I do not use VG++ grade in addition to Excellent grade as is done by some.
The LP is visually in excellent condition with no visible marks, other than a few inaudible pressing bubbles on Side 1. The LP played very quietly with a quick slight hint of crackle/tick heard towards the middle of first cut on Side 2 being the only thing heard. Overall this is a very nice copy of very hard to find psych LP. The LP was tested through headphones after manual cleaning. As the LP was tested several weeks before listing it should, of course, be cleaned again before play. The cover is in very good plus condition. The corners on all sides are slightly worn. The top and bottom seams as well as spine are strong with no splits with minor rub wear /loss of color and the product information on spine is readable. The front cover is very nice with vibrant color. There is slight bit of ring wear and other wear noticeable at top and bottom of the cover on both sides.
The LP is being sold without reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Return of the LP will only be accepted if the same LP sold and shipped is returned in the same condition. The LP will be separated from the cover when shipped to prevent seam splitting.
If you bid on and win more than one item shipping for multiple purchases will be adjusted. If you win more than one item do not pay until I have had the opportunity to issue new invoice to reflect combined lower shipping cost. Shipping for one item is $4 and includes tracking.
Save me as a seller as I have a collection of over 6000 rock, soul blues and Jazz LPs, many of which are very rare and most of which are very clean, including sealed copies and open and very clean MFSL and other audiophile pressings (Nautilus Superdisc, Direct Disk, Quiex, Columbia Mastersound, and Japanese pressings including number of originals), as well as promos.
Please keep in mind that I am a long time record collector, not a store or dealer, that is looking to dispose of most of my collection. I am honest and endeavor to do the best I can in this process and try to be considerate of others and expect the same. Buyers that behave in an unreasonable or less than ethical manner will be reported and blocked from participation in future auctions.
