200 GRAM TOTALLY FLAT VINYL. ONLY 5000 PRESSED BY JVC VICTOR ON PURE "VIRGIN SUPER VINYL" IN JAPAN IN 1983 FOR MFSL.
THE HIGHEST QUALITY, PUREST VINYL EVER MADE - EVEN THOUGH THIS 200 GRAM DISC IS BLACK, THE VINYL IS SO PURE, YOU CAN HOLD IT UP TO A LAMP AND SEE LIGHT THROUGH IT!
THE UHQR IS HAND SERIAL NUMBERED 1494 (OF 5000).
PRESENTED IN A SPECIALLIY DESIGNED BOX WITH DUAL FOAM INSERTS, MFSL DOUBLE JACKET WITH RICE PAPER SLEEVE AND STIFFENER, SIX PAGE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS BROCHURE, AND COA SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT OF MFSL.
THE RECORD ITSELF IS 9.9 ON A SCALE OF 10. NEVER TO BE MADE AGAIN! NO SCRATCHES, NO PROBLEMS. IT SIMPLY LOOKS ABSOLUTELY BRAND NEW.
In 1983, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) released eight 200 gram LPs known as UHQRs (Ultra High Quality Recordings).
Only 5000 of each title was pressed for MFSL by JVC Victor in Japan from the half-speed mastered Original Master Tapes.
Each of the UHQRs was pressed on 200 gram, totally flat (no lip) totally pure Virgin SuperVinyl by JVC Victor in Japan. The discs were returned to MFSL who was located in Chatsworth, CA. at the time for packaging and distribution world-wide.
MFSL literally destroyed the master stampers after the UHQRs were pressed.
Each UHQR came in extremely lavish, protective packaging consisting of an outer black box with a Silver band across the top, a pocket on the inside of the box's front lid with a six-page fold-out Technical Specifications Sheet, and a separate COA signed by the President of MFSL.
The outer box, and all of its contents are in flawless condition - no tears or separation of the corners of the outer box. No labels, tape, or stickers on the box. The Silver band across the top of the box is in perfect condition. Everything inside is like new, considering it was made in 1983.
Each UHQR box, measuring 13" X 13" x 3/4" contains two full-size foam rubber pads. Between the pads is a specially designed album jacket which reproduced the album's original cover art in miniature on its back, listing all the tracks on the record, and its serial number, hand-written in white ink.
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab was later bought out by Music Direct in Chicago, and renamed "MoFi" however in speaking with them, they told me they have no plans to EVER produce these astounding UHQRs again.
This UHQR, "I Robot" by The Alan Parsons Project, was mastered by Stan Ricker, and sold directly by MFSL and through audiophile shops.. it was very unusual to see UHQRs in regular record stores back in 1983.
All 40,000 UHQRs (5000 each of eight different titles especially selected by MFSL for their astounding sonic quality) totally sold out in just a few months in 1983.
You don't need a million dollar HiFi rig to play a UHQR, but you should have medium to high-quality equipment, especially your turntable and cartridge. The higher the quality of your rig, the better it will sound.
And the sound is utterly astounding. Better than a CD..
This UHQR is scratch-free. Anything on the vinyl itself that looks like smudges or marks are merely reflections.. I shot the photos under natural cloudy sunlight coming in through a window. No artificial lighting of any kind was used for the photos.
What looks like curved stripes in my photo of the box's cover are just a moire' pattern photographic artifact from my camera.. the box is pure black in person.. those stripes are not really there..
I grade it 9.9 out of 10 only because it is not in its original shrinkwrap.. note - many shrinkwrapped UHQRs on eBay are used and have had new shrinkwrap put on them by dealers.
The photographs picture everything - the outer box, all six pages of the Technical Specifications folder, the COA, the foam pads, the album's specially designed jacket (front and back), the record itself, and its inner MFSL rice paper sleeve and white cardboard stiffener.
Hopefully you can clearly read the Tech Specs folder.. if not, I have a .pdf version of it which I will gladly email to you if you send me a message through eBay and ask for it. I know of no way to include a .pdf file in an eBay auction's description.
If you are into audiophile vinyl and have never handled nor heard a MFSL UHQR, you are in for a real treat!
"I Robot" is a fantastic album - Alan Parsons was the producer of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" which was also released by MFSL in the UHQR format.
Again, only 5000 of each of the UHQRs were made in 1983, and they will never be made again.
Don't miss this opportunity to own the best of the best.
I am out-of-work and in financial distress, and I also own the "regular" MFSL pressing of "I Robot", so I offer this UHQR to you for your bidding pleasure. I need the money more than I need the UHQR.
I will ship the UHQR, as pictured, in a Bags Unlimited double-album-depth vinyl sleeve, surrounded by bubble wrap, in heavily taped outer Priority Mail box to the lucky, winning bidder, for $4.00, including USPS Tracking..
NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PLEASE.. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS ITEM OUTSIDE OF THE USA..
If you have zero (0) feedback, please do not bid.. I do not deal with eBayers who have zero feedback due to bad experiences in the past..
I will ONLY ship this item to a USA Zip Code address.. no shipping outside the USA..
I'm sorry, nothing personal.. but it has just become too much of a hassle to deal with International shipping.. besides the language / time difference / communications problems, the shipping rates and Customs rules vary wildly from one country to another.. if you are OUTside the USA you may bid ONLY if you have a USA address with a USA Zip Code, (such as a friend, relative, or business with a USA address) to whom I can ship the item, then they can arrange to get it to you..
If you have any questions, click "ask seller a question" and just ask.. i strive to reply to questions quickly..
