Here is a VERY cool double album sampler of music from the wonderful OHR lable, which presents the original and earliest music from their brilliant roster. Highly collectible psych stuff mostly, and this lable has become as desirable as the music on the green BRAIN lable nowadays. For the curious explorers of German sounds, this is a great and invaluable introduction to what the Krautrock scene is all about! If you think you have much of the best of English-spoken psych and progressive music from this exciting and groundbreaking period, then this is definitely for you. If you have some of the later works of some of these artists, then this will also be of great help to find out more. Believe me, these works are as imaginative and innovative as any you will hear. Perhaps you have only heard the names of these groups, then I’d have to say this is a ‘sound investment’! The bands presented here are; AMON DUUL, ANNEXUS QUAM, ASH RA TEMPEL, BIRTH CONTROL, EMBRYO, FLOH DE COLOGNE, PAUL AND LIMPE FUCHS ANIMA SOUND, GURU GURU, LIMBUS, TANGERINE DREAM, WITTHUSER AND WESTRUPP, and XHOL. The album probably dates from around 1971/72 I think, from the start of most of these bands’ careers! The vinyl discs are nice and flat, NO warps. NO scratches - light ‘spider-web’ sleeve scuff only visible under a bright light. These grade a lovely MINT MINUS. The playing is excellent, and nothing to interfere with the enjoyment of this music (I test with full treble/fully opened filter). The lables are clean, almost as new!! Not even fingerprints on the bright white, clean paper. The original Ohr lables are particularly nice. The nice gatefold, laminated cover has light signs of wear only, slight ‘bulge’ from the discs, and grades VG++ to EX due to this. The fullsized inner pages give a brief history/overview of each artist, and their discography, including any single releases too..
