Description

THE COTTON PICKERS were the shifting-personnel Brunswick house jazz band from 1923 to 1929, who always gave great "oomph" whatever their incarnation. This is the 1924 lineup, among whose heavy hitters were: FRANK TRUMBAUER, c-melody sax / MIFF MOLE, trombone, and RUBE BLOOM, piano - all imported members of Ray Miller's band.

They do "MISHAWAKA BLUES" and "JACKSONVILLE GAL." Mishewaka was - and still is - a resort town in northernmost Indiana, of which maybe some of these guys had fond memories, which they did not share, at least in words.

This original 1925 Brunswick 2818 is in nice EE- condition

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.

An Unsolicited Testimonial!: "Superbatone is one of the coolest people on eBay - seriously. An excellent source for music, knowledge, and whimsy, and an asset to the community who cares about music and its preservation. It goes without saying that he is an expert in all facets surrounding 78’s and their content."

And another:  “Descriptions as passionate and informative as superbatone’s are commensurate with what you receive: beautiful records, fast service - and even his writing on the shipping box is interesting, artistic, and indicative of the care taken for these records and to transport them safely.”
