Description
Glenn Danzig (Misfits) - Who Killed Marilyn US 7".
Very rare original US 7" pressing on Plan 9 records.
Released 5th August 1981. Cat No : PL1015. Ltd to 5000 copies.
Also comes with a Misfits Fiend Club insert.
My Reserve is £150.
Condition: Vinyl: Is in Mint minus condition. Plays superbly with just the very slightest signs of being played at the very beginning. Both sides play with fantastic sound quality.
Label: The labels are in excellent + condition. The centre holes do have some very minor wear. On the Marilyn side (side A), there is a very small 2mm tear from the centre hole. Very minor but I grade as accurately as possible.
Picture Sleeve : Is in Excellent condition. There is some minor wear and creases along the 3 edges whilst the opening edge is in almost new conditon. In the bottom left hand corner, there is a 1cm sleeve split (hardly noticeable but mentioned it for accuracy). However, I must stress that these defects are very minor and the card sleeve is in fantastic condition. These original pressings rarely turn up in any condition let along in this superb condition.
Insert: Has some creasing and was stuck to a wall at some point as the four corners on the rear have clear evidence of sellotape/adhesive marks. However, still in very good condition. I am not sure if this originally came with the record or was inserted later by a previous owner.
Whilst not strictly a Misfits single, (it was a Glenn Danzig solo single), it was released whilst Danzig was still in the Misfits and is sought after by Misfits collectors.
I guarantee that this is an original first press bought several years ago from a very trusted specialist dealer. You can check the superb Misfits Central website to check the differences between this original copy and later bootlegs.
The key points to check when differentiating between an original from a bootleg is that the original sleeve has a small white smudge in the black border on the upper right side. Bootlegs have the smudge on the outside of the border instead of the inside. Bootleg copies have matrix markings of "PL - 1015A" in the A side matrix whereas original copies have "PL-1015 A" (ie no spacings) and an additional "F/W DM" in the matrix. My copy for sale has the correct matrix markings and picture sleeve.
A rare opportunity to purchase a very rare original Misifts/Glenn Danzig US 7". These do not turn up very often in the US let alone in the UK and then rarely in this great condition. I'm afraid I've had to set a reserve on this record due to its rarity.
