We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. IRON BUTTERFLY were the American answer to heavy riff-rock British groups like Cream and Led Zeppelin, with a touch of Vanilla Fudge's organ-led theatrics and the Doors' mysterious image.
IRON BUTTERFLY will forevermore be known for the 17+ minute title track of their second album.
"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (a poke at singer/organist Doug Ingle's gruff, John Kay-like delivery of "In the Garden of Eden") is built around one of the most memorable riffs of the '60s. It's filled out by long solos by the band, especially from drummer Ron Bushy, whose memorable efforts provided the template for long jamming tracks for decades to come. The tunes reveal that Iron Butterfly did indeed possess some melodics flourishes to envelope their heaviness; "Flowers and Beads" in particular is simultaneously a romantic '60s rock tune, surprising a swipe at flower power culture.
With its endless, droning minor-key riff and mumbled vocals, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", arguably the most notorious song of the acid rock era.
According to legend, lyricist Doug Ingle was so stoned when the band recorded, the track could neither be pronounced correctly as "In the Garden of Eden" jamming on on for a full 17+ minutes, which to some listeners sounds like eternity. But that's the essence of its appeal -- it was the 'highs' of heavy psychedelic sixties coolness, capturing the inner most expressive tendencies of the era. Iron Butterfly released other greatly-rated jams, though maybe none-better than their tripped-out "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." Iron Butterfly released plenty of enjoyable fuzz guitar-organ driven psychedelic works, as with the five tracks sharing space with their magnum opus in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" qualifying the album as still standing up as the group's most major album, especially since this is the only place the full-length title track is available.
