Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The Orient Express is a multinational project born in the late 60's. It features three versatile musicians: Guy Duris (from France), Bruno Giet (From Belgium) and Farshid Goleshorkhi (from Iran). They published only one album together which can be seen as a dynamic blend of blasting acid ethno rock and luminous folkish raga music. An other perfect musical meeting between the West and the East.Here's a pretty cool group from the sixties focusing on exploring the sounds of India and the Middle East ala the "Devils Anvil." While it's well past a cliche to be doing that, especially by 1969, these folks do it quite well. The Orient Express grabbed a few ethnic instruments and modal ideas, and set out melding it with the 1967 vintage of the San Fran psych rock ballroom sound (with a hint of Syd Barrett's Floyd too). Along with the sitars, this band tries to play most of the guitar parts as if they were sitars. Most of the tracks manage to work themselves into a whirling dervish-like frenzy.
The first three tracks all work on the wild, strobe lit, sound quite amazingly, while the echoing canvas of "Birds Of India" takes a little more leisure, occasionally slipping into polyrhythmic insanity. "Caravan Of Silk" sound like the perfect music for enter an evil lair in some twisted low-budget (but great) adventure film, and "Azaar" eventually pulls out all the stops for a full frontal assault. Strangely enough the most pop friendly tracks appear near the end, with "For A Moment" and "A Little Star" sounding like tracks tailor made for the left-of-center, freakier radio stations (did AM radio have left of the dial?). With "Cobra Fever," we get a nice come down track along, which could end up in the aforementioned adventure film as the villain is plotting our hero's doom.
There's something mildly exploitative sounding about the Orient Express, but they tend to work up such a head of steam that one really doesn't mind. It's like exotica for the turned-on crowd
Orient Express deliver huge percussion and electric Eastern string effects via heavy use of the Danelectro electric sitar layering it with equally trippy turns on electric oud, melodica and minitar. It's full of heavy tribal percussive pounding, and good old fashioned hard rock – which makes for one of the trippiest exotic rock LP's from the sixties. The marriage between Eastern and Western musical forms could easily become a self-conscious hybrid, but The Orient Express has smoothly and honestly achieved the merger individually and as a group. Instead of mixing clichés of each form, they have deeply explored each music, and exposed the profound similarities between their cultures... at once creating a highly original music and a timeless one.
