PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. 1974 first press of the third and final LP issued by the occult underground hardrock band COVEN led by the flashy sinister-edged JINX DAWSON ....
While not a complete return to their proto-metallic occult rock roots, Coven's third album certainly presents a harder, more aggressive edge than their self-titled second album.
"Hide Your Daughters" Dawson briefly steps in the background, with a male taking lead vocals on the some of the verses for this one. This time, the band possesses a popular Fleetwood Mac sound. The lengthier number is dominated with keys and crunchy electric guitar.
"Lost Without a Trace" is one of the best songs on the album, and a great showcase of Dawson's vocal talent and provides the listener with a hauntingly pleasant bit of music before becoming slightly heavier. There's a lengthy guitar solo during the second half over the main chords, with Dawson vocalizing over it some.
"Easy Evil" is a pretty good hard rock/r'n'b-sounding track. "Blue Blue Ships" Lovely keys and violin introduce this unassuming song. The overall instrumentation is pleasant. There is a rocking part in the middle with some distorted vocals and a pretty good guitar solo through a wah-wah pedal. The song ends interestingly enough, with a delayed vocal and a nice build.
"Blood on the Snow" is generally considered the album's best song. It essentially returns to Coven's roots, with a stoned-out metal sound.
Unfortunately, it's only a little over two minutes and has very few words. There are lyrics, but it's main function is to give the lead guitarist the opportunity to jam, since apparently there was no such place elsewhere on the album.
