           Sometime In New York

                    ...USA - APPLE RECORDS - SVBB 3392

ORIGINAL 1972 MINT CLEAN first pressing, complete, with the awesome custom designed  4 sided Lennon drawings inner sleeves...SomeTime in New York City is a blast. Includes, among others, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Keith Moon, Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention...

John and Yoko, pumped up by The Elephant's Memory Band, shriek and stomp and boogie with some of the finest and most enjoyable rock and roll they've ever written. "Attica State" is pathetic social comment but it sizzles. "New York City" is John's greatest rocker since 1968's "Revolution". Yoko's cooking throwbacks ("Sister O Sister" and "Born in a Prison") and her rocker ("We're All Water") are enjoyable tunes. Cynics may say that any idiot can sound good when their music is pumped up by Lennon and company, but it is Yoko's blistering vocal on "Sunday Bloody Sunday" that makes it one of the best songs on the album. Angela, John Sinclair, and Born in A Prison provide haunting melodies to rival George Harrison's most melancholy moments. The live version of Cold Turkey more than the studio version. And, "Well (Baby Please Don't Go)" almost redeems a whole side. A real jamming gem, and Eric Clapton, George Harrison & Zappa & tHe Mothers appear along...

All told this album rocks with a lot of heart. Lennon's leftist stance is exciting and the song topics still relevant: "Woman is the Nigger of the World," "The Luck of the Irish," John Sinclair getting "10 for 2". If you like his tune "Instant Karma" you'll dig this album--it has the same huge sound. Phil Spector's magnificent production just takes the cake. And for fans of Yoko Ono, you're in for a real treat as she gets some great turns at the microphone, "Fly" style. Lennon sings more passionately than he has since "A Hard Day's Night". He was climbing new heights, and for it, the U.S. government threatened to throw him out. This album perfectly captures the excitement and tumult of the times...
