BEAUTIFUL MINT 1971 first press BLUESROCK STOMPER!

                                 TASTE

LIVE At The Isle Of Wight

\                                                           UK - Polydor - 2383120

BEAUTIFUL MINT (looks unplayed and the cover mint too) ORIGINAL 1970 british first press with laminated cover on the polydor label and never released in the USA, was a big import item over here with the impact success and immediate strong following of the mighty TASTE...

This is a no holds barred heavy-blues rage from start to finish, the guitar trio guys play with a passion and commitment that no longer seems to exist in rock music and what makes the old early 70's heavies the classics they are...

Just before going on stage for the Isle of Wight set, Taste had most of their gear stolen and so had to play on borrowed kit - and just listen to what they achieved. Rory manages to produce bursts of speed and fire on the old Strat...

"What's Going On?", the opener from On the Boards just steams and roars with the whole band's interlocked ability. "Sinner Boy" has the most staggering slide solo and "Feel So Good" has the most wonderful intro and outro - and Rory is at double speed on this. "Catfish", by then their show stopper, is a true show stopper: but the whole set is really strong and full of wicked playing. McCraken on bass and John Wilson on drums are excellent and often underestimated. They pushed Rory on and challenged him to new heights, and Rory delivers !

"Live At The Isle Of Wight" is a very exciting performance. Just remind yourself, or learn for the first time, who was one of the real UK blues guitaristists and singers of the 60s and early 70s. Remember too these were young kids --  a lesson there somewhere about "progress" .....
