Miles Davis All Stars: Walkin’
Prestige Hi-Fi LP 7076.
[Original 12-inch issue: ‘deep groove’ w/ 446 W. 50th St., NYC label, “RVG” in trail-off / USA].
Condition*: record has marks and some scratches are audible, but plays well. There is some low “crunchiness” on the Walkin’ trk as well as brief crackle here ‘n there; light “pops” now ‘n then, but thanks to some very forgiving vinyl – doesn’t sound all that bad. Let’s say it’s consistent. The rest of that side is generally fine; side two has the same overall sonic situation…there is an audible singular scratch on trk 2, the ballad. Like I say, not great, but not terrible IMHO: laminated cover is probably VG, maybe the low end of VG+ w/ no splits or extraneous writing.
ADD: question - does the record "skip"? Answer: No. I track at a little over 1 gram and I had no problems with the 3-4 "pops" or the scratches that I have described above. In fact, the more I play it, the better the condition seems to get!! Or maybe I'm just getting used to it!
