Description

For sale is MILES DAVIS "At Carnegie Hall,"on Columbia CL 1812, MONO, 1961. Red-6-Eye Promo Edition. With Hank Mobley, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb.

SOUND: NM

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Fantastic playback! The sound is brilliant overall, very sharp and very clean. Side A is near-perfect. Side B has a tiny hint of surface noise. Only the most compulsive perfectionist wouldn't be thrilled with this playback!

VINYL: VG+ or better

There are light scuffs or hairline marks on either side. These all appear completely superficial. The record absolutely plays a notch better than it appears! The labels are red "six-eye" with "demonstration" printed in silver on each side. Beautifully clean, but with faint spindle marks.

JACKET: VG+

The jacket is outstanding overall. I'd grade it NM, but for one flaw: there's a dime-size bit of missing paper lower front cover, and there's a little bit of a gummy substance around that (see pics.) The gummy stuff has lost its stickiness over the years... might be removed, but that's up to the winner of the auction. As I said, aside from that issue, the jacket is outstanding: solid all-around, nice corners, clean front and back. There's a "promo" stamp on the back.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

Good luck finding an original copy that plays better!  Buy it for $35.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
