Description
A couple of years ago, one of Australia's most respected and most eloquent music writers passed away - he was active all throughout the 80's and 90's, and to a lesser extent, right up until recently. His credibility was perhaps best illustrated by the high reverence in which he was held by his journalistic peers, and especially by the absolute cream of Australia's musicians - members of Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Radio Birdman, Sports, Angels, and many many others counted him as an ally (itself rare in the too often isolationist world he inhabited)...and he had a flurry of loyal readers too...all of whom, it's my guess, would have felt a loop of sadness at the thought his indepth and articulate, impassioned appraisals would no longer be forthcoming.
Just recently I was offered to buy his record collection, which I did, feeling pretty honoured to do so...and here then, is one of the items from that collection:

LABEL: POWDERWORKS .
CATALOGUE #: MLF-233 (although matrix numbers in run-off grooves are: MLS-233-A / MLS-233-B) .
DATE OF PRESSING: 1978 .
PRESSED IN: AUSTRALIA .
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: Yes, it is...as a test pressing, this would literally be thee first 12" vinyl item for the band, being that the album wasn't released for a good two months after this was made. The journalist mentioned above was a very close friend of the band, right from these early days, and was the only 'outsider' given a copy (this copy!) to listen to prior to release (he later wrote an indepth book about the band...you may be figuring things out by now). This remained his sole copy of the album and you can tell he played it a lot. However despite the many 'hair-line' and scuff marks, there's nothing heavy affecting the vinyl...and it plays through very loudly and clearly, with only a few odd crackles.
Has plain white labels.
CONDITION:
COVER: ( VG- )...has lots of scuffing and ringwear - see pix...
RECORD: ( VG )...see last sentence above...it's very much still a great loud listen!...
LABELS: (Side One: EX / Side Two: EX )...
