Another from my personal collection! Very rare and scarce 1st UK presing of Mick Faren's 1st solo album Mono Carnivorous Circus! Please note! This is sold mainly for its collectability rather than for its condition! There is general ware and tare with age, but having said that this is a very playable copy indeed and it plays without distortion and no loud clicks or pops, there is just minor isolated static ticks only to mention in general i would grade the audio at least excellent if not better! Either way these early original 1st UK pressings rarely surface for sale!
Mona—The Carnivorous Circus is a 1970 album by the UK underground artist Mick Farren.
The album was recorded to fulfill contractual obligations. Farren had recently returned from a tour of the west coast of North America with his band The Deviants, who had relieved the singer of his duties.
Farren recalls that "I was crazy when I did Mona—really mentally ill. If I listen to it I can still feel it. Maybe I should have chilled out for a few months before making the album, but I was a bit depressed, and I thought I'd just do it entirely my own way for the first time."
The subject matter is dark and the music very often discordant and dissonant. "Carnivorous Circus" is a montage of song and spoken word, featuring an interview with a Hells Angel, Steve Took recounting time he spent in Ashford Remand Centre, and recordings of political speeches. The cello on "Mona" was provided by Paul Buckmaster, who had demonstrated to Farren the similarities between Bo Diddley and Béla Bartók!
Mick Farren was the singer with the proto-punk band The Deviants between 1967 and 1969, releasing three albums. During 1970 he released the solo album Mona – The Carnivorous Circus which also featured Steve Peregrin Took, John Gustafson and Paul Buckmaster, before ending his music business to concentrate on writing.
During the mid-1970s, he briefly revived his musical career, releasing the EP Screwed Up, album Vampires Stole My Lunch Money and single "Broken Statue". The album featured fellow NME journalist Chrissie Hynde and Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson. He has sporadically done musical work since then, collaborating with Wayne Kramer on Who Shot You Dutch? and Death Tongue, Jack Lancaster on The Deathray Tapes and Andy Colquhoun on The Deviants albums Eating Jello With a Heated Fork and Dr. Crow.
Aside from his own work, he has provided lyrics for various musician friends over the years. He has collaborated with Lemmy, co-writing "Lost Johnny" for Hawkwind, and "Keep Us on the Road" and "Damage Case" for Motörhead. With Larry Wallis, he co-wrote "When's the Fun Begin?" for the Pink Fairies and several tracks on Wallis' solo album Death in a Guitar Afternoon. He provided lyrics for the Wayne Kramer single "Get Some" during the mid-1970s, and continued to work with and for him during the 1990s.

The Vinyl and Audio Quality!
This is the thick, heavy and chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest copies of this album! On initial inspection the vinyl looks very tidy indeed and still! Only if looked at under a strong light can any tiny surface marks/ scratches/scuffs possibly be seen,, importantly these have just minimal effect on the awesome audio in the form of isolated static type ticks only and no loud annoying clicks or pops were heard at all! In general the audio was cristal clear and very vibrant indeed and I would grade the audio at least excellent if not better in my opinion!
The Labels!
These are the original 1st issue Transatlantic labels in fact amaizingly they look almost like new! Just a bare hint of spidering can just be seen, indicating that his has just had minimal play only! There are no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round!
The Cover
This is the original fully laminated 1st issue cover! Firstly this is strong and straight and there are no splits or tares and no nasty names written on it! There are general creasings to the laminate both front and rear with age, light rubbing ware and tare and laminate lifting at the spine can be seen in photos! All text is clear and can be read!
