Light Of Saba 1978/002
Matrices: DSR 5179 / DSR 5180
Very rare and beautiful 12" 45 has tough Afro-funk piece by Light of Saba called "Africa" on Side A b/w "Word Sound" by poet Michael Smith backed by members of Light of Saba on hand drums and percussion. "Word Sound" has three parts -- a hand drum instrumental, followed by Smith reading "Mi Cyaan Believe It", followed by Smith reading "Roots" accompanied by hand drums and percussion. The takes of "Believe It" and "Roots" are different from those issued on the Mango LP.
The Michael Smith pieces have not been reissued.
Vinyl is VG+*, with good gloss and a few light marks. There is light surface noise audible occurring during the quiet parts of "Believe It and "Roots" and during the beginning of "Africa." The "Word Sound" label has writing; the "Africa label is clean. Comes in a plain white cover.
