MICHAEL JACKSON

“BEN”

MEGARARE original Motown Records very first STEREO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1976 by DISCOS BANGLAD (Banglad Records), catalog number LP TML-119, with hand etched matrix numbers LP-TML-119-A EB-CD-C in Side A and LP-TML-119-B EB-CD-C in Side B, with traditional blue/silver Motown Records labels, with yellow “Banglad” and tricolor “Motown” logo. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “20-4-76” (April 20th of 1976). Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“BEN”, was originally released in 1972, but in Chile we had to wait until 1976 to see this great album released here and like in many other cases of the period we got an unique non-laminated flipback cover made of two single pieces of thin cadboard with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. As you can see we got in Chile an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with a picture of a young Michael Jackson, his name at top edge and the album title inside a pink circle with a big “N°1 in USA”, with Banglad Records logo at bottom left corner and Motown Records logo at bottom right corner. Back cover is also different, it has two pictures of Michael Jackson, his name at top edge and tracklist written in Spanish only. In labels the album title and name Michael Jackson are above the spindle hole, at left side of spindle hole is the name Motown and at right Banglad, and below the spindle hole is the tracklist written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters. So, here you have a great chance to get this UNIQUE ALBUM by Michael Jackson, “BEN”, but sure in Chile this is not the album “Ben” everybody knows, here in Chile it’s really an UNIQUE COMPILATION with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! In Chile the tracklist is:

Side A

  1. BEN

  2. AIN’T NO SUNSHINE

  3. GOT TO BE THERE

  4. ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE

  5. TOO YOUNG

Side B

  1. MY GIRL

  2. IN OUR SMALL WAY

  3. ROCKIN’ ROBIN

  4. MARIA

  5. YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND

Yes, ANOTHER RARE FIND, another rarity from Chile for all fans and collector of Michael Jackson, this album was only released here in Chile!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition both sides, clean and clear, no rips, no tears, some wear in the edges and corners but not seam splits, some creases and little rips, faint little blemishes, evident discoloration and ring VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, hairlines and soft scratches of all sizes, which don’t affect play. Labels are in EX- or EX condition both sides, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear but many writings, most of them not easy to see at first sight because of the blue color. The sound is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some soft constant crackles and some occasional pops here and there, which don’t distract at all from the great sound “most” of this record keeps. I can say most of songs play in absolute EX or even EX+ condition, but I had to downgrade it because of a jump I detected in the first lines of “My Girl”, maybe this record needs a deep professional vacuum cleaning, you already must know that records behave different in different turntables, but even considering the little jump this album won’t disappoint anyone. Overall, a great record, sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but with a still nice look and in spite of the little jump in “My Girl” (if it's really there) still with a very decent and respectable sound quality after 39 years. A MUST TO HAVE for all Michael Jackson collectors!!! And remember the UNIQUE COVER, the UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and the UNIQUE TRACKLIST!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

We are not responsible for all the taxes, duties, fees you could have to pay in your country, but I always declare the records as gift.
