Description
Welcome to the World of MacLizardking Music’s
“Premier Collection”
“Top quality product, service & packaging as standard, all backed with strict “Record Collector” gradings. Who could ask for more?”
Greetings vinyl lovers and welcome to how record sales on e-bay should be done; both pre and post sale. The mound of detail contained within this listing is intended to inform and assist you in deciding if, a.) this is the copy of the record you’ve been searching for and b.) I’m the person you wish to buy it from. Buying vinyl records on e-bay can be a little “hit and miss”, however, you need not worry here! It is my mission to purely deal in either pristine, “Premier Collection” items such as this, dating back to the 50’s or pristine, “Modern Classics”. All will be served-up as efficiently as possible, thus encouraging repeat business amongst my splendid and loyal customers… just check all that glowing feedback!
I grade to a strict Record Collector grading system, as it’s simply not in my best interests not to! Please take it for granted that these items are precisely as detailed below, with NO clicks, skips or pops, as detailed below. However, I should also state that I only list lovely items, with all others going straight to the local charity shops.
If it says “mint”, it means “mint”!
“Premier Collection” Obviously, all of the normal MacLizardking detail and service apply to these truly astounding items, however, every now and then, I either clear a few truly delicious titles from my personal collection or come across an astounding, silly-rare early pressing of a truly legendary artiste or title that deserves to be highlighted and listed as such. Obviously, not using reserves, these will have a higher starting price than normal, but I’m not prepared to run the risk of these exceptional, rare items going for pennies! However, I simply can-not stress enough just how special these incredible items are, not only being a first or very early pressing, undoubtedly erring on the pristine, but also being some of the most highly desirable and sought after titles on the planet. As ever, the main difference between this, or any title I list is that it will not only be one of, if not the BEST listed on the ‘bay, but I also do everything possible to ensure it gets to YOU both quickly and in the same superb condition!
Pre-Sale: The vinyl is re-housed in a brand-new polly-lined paper inner sleeve (paper for the 7’s) and the original pic/lyric bag, obviously, retained. Once highly scrutinized, both physically and aurally, it’s then appointed a grading, photographed and the whole thing then carefully stored in a brand-new outer sleeve.
Post-sale: All items are re-inspected and the vinyl re-housed along with the cover in the outer polly-sleeve, to ensure the safest approach to shipping, i.e. not allowing the vinyl to cut through the outer sleeve whilst in transport. It’s then bundled in the BEST and most CAREFULLY wrapped packaging you’ll see this or the other side of Xmas, so you receive the gem you won in the same awesome condition as when it’s SWIFTLY dispatched after payment’s cleared.
Happy bidding, good luck and please do believe what you’re reading… including the 100%, copper-bottom, returns guarantee detailed below. I know these listings may read as superlative filled epics, but that’s simply as they are such wonderful items! I do NOT sell “shagged” records, only seriously desirable LOVELIES! Both the records and the service that surrounds them can be that good, as I really do try… just check the feedback my awesome customers have been both cool and kind-enough to leave.
Peace & love…
MacLizardking.

Introduction and MacLizardking’s Initial Review: Heralding a truly awesome collection of my Jazz lp’s that will be hitting my site in January, I’ve plucked a few utter gems out to auction pre-Xmas, partly to give you a taste of the quality of both artistes and product, but also to serve as a gauge of which varieties of this complex and enthralling musical genre will appeal to what must be a highly discerning group of buyers on the bay.
Second “taster” is this ludicrously rare diamond from Michael Garrick in TRULY JAW-DROPPING condition. It’s a FIRST PRESS on the Argo label and is genuinely a mere whisper off “as new, perfect” both in and out. This must be one of the most rare and collectable Jazz gems that I’ve ever had the TOTAL joy of offering to you fine folk, but, being a slightly different genre to my usual, rock based offerings, should you be a newcomer to the MacLizardking Lot, please do be kind enough to peruse my feedback which is representative of the levels of both quality and service I offer on ALL my items, be they a mint modern item, or something as rare and collectable as this! Now, please read on for the full, glorious details… being both my personal description statement and accuracy of condition guarantee.
Detailed Cover & Inner-sleeve Review.
Specific cover grading: EX
Comment: Gothic Press, 1st issue, laminated front. A VERY HARSH grading.
Front: Four miniscule stress-creases to spine, two of which have produced miniscule lift in the lamination at two points parallel with the spine, the remainder of which is tight, bright and clean and has just 1mm (if that) creep from the sleeve opening.
Back: Lightest hint of ring-ware at 12 & 6 o’clock positions and fractionally discoloured to a still clean off-white, and not the brilliant white as when brand new.
Edges & Corners: Awesome! All in perfect shape and seams totally unworn, with just infinitesimal whisper of fuzzing to (from front) bottom left corner tip extremity.
Spine: Superb shape and fully legible, one tiny, tiny crease point, tapered top and tail.
Inner-sleeve: Original blue & white polly liner (3-70) in NM condition, lightest wrinkles NO splits or genuine creases, now with new, high quality polly-liner.
“Record Collector Sleeve Gradings Explained;
M (Mint) : “The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition”
NM (Near Mint) : As M, but also as “Sod’s Law” occasionally dictates, with one miniscule physical flaw, that has no effect on the overall quality of the item, yet means it’s no longer “perfect”; i.e. a solitary tiny rub-mark or dink.
M- (Mint Minus) : A notch below NM, but indicating a cover that’s still in fantastic condition, though it‘s just possible to see it’s been slid carefully in and out of a collection over the years; i.e. miniscule speckled, lower edge ware, the odd tiny, tiny stress crease or utter whisper of fuzzing to extremities of the corner tips.
EX (Excellent): “The cover and packaging might have minor ware and/or creasing”
VG (Very Good) : “Normal ware and tare on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable”
G (Good) : “The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc”.
F (Fair) : “The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced”.
P (Poor) : “The cover or contents will be badly damaged or partly missing”.
Detailed Vinyl/s & Labels Review.
Specific Vinyl grading: M-
Visual: Stunning, as new mirror-like gloss with deep, deep sheen. Flawless.
Audio: Truly delighted to report, that this diamond plays as it looks start to finish, both sides, with just the VERY lightest background sound in places. Being a Jazz epic, I’ll try to provide a greater level of descriptive accuracy… Basically, beyond the VERY, VERY occasioned miniscule tick, or the VERY, VERY lightest whisper of BACKGROUND (and I MEAN background!) sound (so light I can hardly even bring myself to use the word crackle!) this gem of a pressing delivers totally and utterly, start to finish both sides. NO DISTORTION, NO groove noise, simply the sound of a masterpiece that delivers totally and utterly to one’s listening pleasure. A simply incredible listen, start to finish, both sides, and that, folks, is guaranteed!
Labels: Side one practically flawless, incredible label, and just slightly more visible on side two. Both still in incredible condition.
“Record Collector Vinyl Gradings Explained;
M (Mint) : “The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.”
NM (Near Mint) : As above, but, as “Sod’s Law” occasionally dictates, with one miniscule physical flaw, as detailed above, that has no effect on the overall quality of the item, yet means it’s no longer “perfect”; i.e. a solitary spindle-mark or blush, but still aurally perfect.
M- (Mint Minus) : A truly beautiful, gleaming vinyl, that it’s just possible to spot that it’s been played before. Possibly the lightest of paper-marks on the physical or even a whisper of crackle on the play-in’s alone, but still practical perfection on the aural.
EX (Excellent) : “The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality”
VG (Very Good) : “The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch”
G (Good) : “The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches”
F (Fair) : “The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump”.
P (Poor) : “The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc”.
B (Bad) : “The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler”.
For further slices of quality vinyl, dating from the late 50’s through to the current day, please visit “MacLizardking Music” located at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/maclizardkingmusic where the policies of high quality and honest-service are paramount. Either duplicates from my personal collection or items that just aren’t really my bag that I’ve picked up along the way. I try to get at least two or three new listings up-loaded each day, so there’ll always be a rotation of music, of varied decades and styles.
After the dust has settled….

Postage & Packaging Charges and Payment Method Preferences:
Please read carefully, this is from the heart folks!
Having been on the receiving end of some truly abysmal packaging, all lp’s from my organisation are dispatched in top quality, bought-in for the job cruciform record mailers and stiffeners. I should also point out I take great pride and care with my packaging.
What You Get For Your Money:
One LP: A small item of beauty! Small boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with two midi-stiffeners. Banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole things banded with “Fragile” tape.
Two LP’s: A slightly larger item of beauty! Small boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with three/four midi-stiffeners. Banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole things banded with “Fragile” tape.
Three LP’s: Now we’re getting there! Large boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with four/five midi-stiffeners. Side sealed and banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole things banded with “Fragile” tape.
Four LP’s: An item of serious beauty! Large boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with six/seven large-stiffeners. Side sealed and banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with double gaffer tape. Gaffer tape sealed down with coloured packing tape (make identification easier at the post office!) then the whole things banded with “Fragile” tape.
Five LP’s: “Le Mutts Cahones!” Large boxed edge, cruciform record mailer with eight large-stiffeners. Side sealed with packing tape, banded with mesh tape, outer edges sealed and protected with double gaffer tape. Registration and Insurance of Packages Valued OVER £30:00:
All packages with a content value in excess of £30:00 must be registered. Beyond that, all invoices will offer the option of registration, providing both a tracking number and up to £30.00 compensation should something go awry. These fees, on packages valued less than £30, are optional, but are offered on all sales invoices as standard, it is your choice as to whether or not to take up this additional cover.
“Signed For Service” UK = £1.00 per package. Europe & Rest of The World = £3.50 per package.
Once dispatched, all items are the responsibility of the Buyer, though if the item was registered I will obviously assist in the tracking of any item that goes missing or is damaged.
Payment Methods:
PayPal is the primo method of choice for either UK or overseas buyers. Within the UK and as long as you can handle the wait, personal cheques or postal orders are also acceptable. For overseas buyers PayPal is again the first choice, but cash (GBP, USD or Euros) is okay, though ONLY if it is registered. Sorry, no overseas cheques, unless issued from a UK bank or building society.
Please note, these are the charges - they are non-negotiable; particularly post-auction! If you think they’re unreasonable, please, do not bid. I know what my costs and overheads are and, with all due respect to first time MacLizardking customers who have yet to enjoy the experience (read that feedback folks!), you do not!
Should things go “boink”…
The standard rules apply to refunds – i.e. if you’re not happy with the condition of the item in comparison with the description, neither am I. So, on receipt of the goods in the original packaging and in the same condition as when dispatched, a full refund will be made of your original payment.
And finally…
Whilst this may all appear slightly excessive on the detail front, I do go to great lengths to ensure the accuracy of these listings and promote “service” and “honesty” as treasured commodities as, on occasion, I have found them to be lacking in (one or two) others with which I have dealt on e-bay - But NOT here! I feel I should also add that I have been professionally involved in either the music or entertainment industry for the last 20 years and as a fan of all genre’s of music since year “dot” – in my case, the mid 60’s – what a decade, wish I was old enough to remember it!
To verify all this manic attention to detail please do check my feedback, which I go to great lengths to keep positive and my buyers are both cool and kind enough to leave.
OVER TWO THOUSAND POSITIVE’S CAN’T BE WRONG FOLKS!!!
NO VINYL WILL EVER BE DISPATCHED FROM MY ORGANISATION IN A JIFFY BAG! IT JUST DOESN’T WORK!!!
My thanks for looking at my listing and checking out all this blurb – or, if you’ve not, and there’s been a fracas or the like, I guess that you’ve just read this for the first time and discovered that this does actually answer most of “those” questions! Hope this finds you under “blue skies” and listening to some groovy tunes on the greatest format ever!
Cheers,
Rod.
