Metallica are one of the best, most influential heavy metal bands of the '80s.

Formed in San Francisco in 1981 they have been hugely influential.

James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and the Band have been responsible for bringing the genre back to the forefront of heavy metal music.

The Band looked and talked like they were from the streets of San Francisco, shunning the usual rock star games of metal musicians during the early '80s.

They expanded the limits of thrash metal, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions.

Metallica’ S&M is a must have triple album for any heavy metal fan.
