MERCURY GOLDEN IMPORTS SRI 2-77001 DVORAK SLAVONIC DANCES SMETANA DORATI GATEFOLD MINT
Yes, this is a highly collectible record. Mercury Golden Imports are not known for their rarity and do not usually garner high prices. However, there are exceptions.
As you are probably aware, Mercury made some of the greatest sounding classical record albums of all time and are highly collectible to this day. This re-issue series was introduced, pressed in Holland, in the late sixties, due to many complaints about the pressing quality -not the sound quality – of the original Mercury SR series. Some of them were re-engineered and the GOLDEN IMPORTS LABEL was born. Some people even argue that the sonics are better in the GOLDEN IMPORTS series but most disagree. However, the one thing you could always say about the GOLDEN IMPORTS was that they were quiet pressings... and certain of them, the Saint-Saens Third Symphony, for example, rivaled those fabled originals in sound.
This copy is in MINT CONDITION. The shrink wrap is gone because it was damaged when I purchased this LP as a cut-out. I HAVE NOT PLAYED IT!! Although not as rare and sought after as the original Mercury SR2-9007 pressing; this particular record is rare in it's own right. I hope you enjoy it.
