MEET THE BEATLES SCRANTON MONO FIRST PRESSING W/PUBLISHING CREDITS LP T-2047
Spizer “Beatles Story On Capitol Albums” Book label identification:
“CAP 2047. MR2A (East Coast Scranton Pressing w/first publishing credits which list all songs w/ASCAP with the exception of “I Want To Hold Your Hand”). Likewise, the jacket is identified as CAP 2047.MC1A. There is no George Martin production credit on the back of the jacket.
This offering is a nice entry level piece for a new or young collector that wants an enjoyable early mono pressing but doesn’t have to pay and arm or a leg to purchase it.
The record itself was well loved and displays many light scratches sleeve scuffs that don’t interfere with the playability. Nice player with minimal noise even on quiet parts between songs. These early Capitol pressing were fairly hearty and often play much better than they look. Probably plays more like VG+ but visually looks like VG on a strict grading.
Unfortunately, the original owner appears to have taped the original baggy style wrap to the cover which resulted
in the tape stains around the seams as shown in the photos. The good news is that the wrap in most areas appears to have protected the rest of the jacket and seams, etc. The wrapped is still taped to the areas shown and extends to the inside of the jacket a few inches inside the mouth opening. Some of the tape is flaking and slightly loose and the jacket appears clean in the main areas under the baggy. As a result of the tape stains, we grade this jacket harshly at Fair condition due to the tape staining. Again, this is not a terrible jacket and the seams and spine are all intact.
This also comes with the original blue Capitol inner sleeve with some splits.
Again, this piece came in a large collection and is being sold “as is” with no returns. A historic piece of rock and roll history with plenty of life left.
